| 1. Conversion Between BCF Grade and FIDE/USCF Rating | |
| BCF have amended the conversion calculation between BCF grades and FIDE Elo rating following a review. The conversion has been amended for players below BCF 215/FIDE Elo 2325. This conversion applies only to conversions from and to official FIDE ratings; it does not apply to conversions to and from foreign national ratings, which will continue to use the traditional formula - see Section 2. below. Note: The current conversion assumes a minimum FIDE Elo of 2000, and will be subject to future amendment in the light of further evidence; it is envisaged that reduction of the minimum rating on the FIDE system will affect the conversion formula in the future. The conversion formulae are shown below. |

| 2. Conversion Between BCF Grade and Foreign National Rating | |
| The above new formula only applies to conversion of official FIDE ratings. Conversions to and from foreign national ratings will continue to use the traditional formula, which is defined as follows: |
| BCF to National Elo | Elo | = (BCF x 8) + 600 | |
| National Elo to BCF | BCF | = (Elo - 600) / 8 | |
